Master's Program in Urban Studies begins Fall 2009.
Designed as an interdisciplinary program, Urban Studies offers a broad introduction to the city and the urban enviroment. Students combine course work and urban issues with hands-on experience in New York City.
By integrating study from numerous academic disciplines, students gain a strong understanding of the complex relationships that contribute to both the problems and opportunities of city living. A dedicated faculty offer courses ranging from urban politics and community, architecture and the built environment, urban history, immigration and class relations, to literary representations of urban space.

Alumni news

Urban Studies alumni Amanda McDonald is currently living in Cairo, Egypt and interning for the International Organization for Migration's Overseas Processing Entity. Amanda processes applications and health information
for refugee resettlement from Morocco and Iraq to the United States. These health assessments help arrange for appropriate health care, especially for Iraqi refugees who suffer high rates of physical and mental trauma. "I chose to move to Egypt and pursue this internship because I saw how vital it is that both domestic and international professional experiences are had. What is especially appealing about internships, for non-committal types, is the ability to test new waters on short contracts while making contacts and building your resume. I am pleased to discover that my dedication to the resettlement of refugees has intensified and the skills I am acquiring will readily translate to other positions in this field." |
