Financial Aid Students with Stipends
*Special Notice about Health Insurance for students who are receiving GSAS financial aid (stipends only)*
The Fordham payment plan is an option open to all students, regardless of whether or not they receive a stipend from GSAS.
If you are a student who has been awarded a Graduate Assistantship, a Distinguished Fellowship, a Teaching or Research Fellowship, you are eligible to receive $1500 of financial aid to help cover the cost of Fordham's Basic Health Insurance Plan.
If you are a Teaching Associate, the GSAS will contribute $400 per course taught up to $1500. So, if you teach 2 courses, you will be eligible for $800. If you teach 3 courses, you are eligible for $1200. If you teach 4 courses, you can receive the full $1500. Amounts will be prorated for the fall and spring semester (fall is 5 months and spring/summer is 7).
If you are receiving a stipend as part of your financial aid award package for the 2013-2014 academic year, (Grad Assistant, Fellowship, Teaching) you will not have to pay at the time that you sign up for the health insurance coverage. GSAS students will enroll for the year, but be billed by semester (including the Supplemental Benefit amount if you chose that option during the online enrollment process). Once your account has been billed, GSAS will post its financial aid for health insurance, which is $538 (fall) and $962 (spring) for a total of $1,500.
If you are concerned that you will not have enough money saved by this time, please review Fordham's payment plan for the spring term.
The required paperwork can be found in Thebaud Hall or online:
