My acceptance letter requires, as an admit condition, that I take ESL language testing and possible courses by the Institute of American Language and Culture. What do I do?
Before you can be matriculated, you must complete the test of English as a Second Language (ESL) and test at a required level. To accomplish this, please visit the Institute of American Language and Culture’s website at www.fordham.edu/esl. There you will have access to the Institute’s programs and contact information.
For students who have been given an ESL condition for the fall semester, the Fordham English Language Test (FELT) is given every day at the Institute of American Language and Culture (IALC) at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. You may call the office at 212.636.6353 to schedule an appointment. The IALC office is located at 33 West 60th Street, 3rd floor.
Please note date change:
For students arriving later in August, the test will be administered on Thursday, August 23, 2012 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. in Keating Hall Room B21.
The test takes about 2.5 hours to complete. It consists of a grammar section, an essay and an oral interview.
The New Students Orientation is scheduled for August 19 and August 20, 2013.
Please review the essay writing process to prepare for the test.
