Online Dissertation Submission through ProQuest/UMI
Ph.D. students may now submit their dissertation through a new online process which reduces the cost to students. The traditional publishing fee has been reduced from $65 to $0.
You do not need to bring a hard copy to the Academic Programs Office at the time of the presentation appointment..
Schedule an appointment for the presentation by the published deadlines shown on the GSAS Calendar by contacting Maureen Hanratty at 718 817-4400 as soon as possible.* Please note that the time of this appointment should be at least 48 hours after your oral defense (check with your department).
After oral defense, make any changes in the dissertation that were identified during the defense. Make sure that the changes conform to the formatting guidelines for dissertations and then secure approval of those changes from your mentor and committee.
When you have successfully uploaded the dissertation, you will receive a confirmation.
Print out the confirmation to bring to your presentation appointment. GSAS will contact you to confirm that your submission is accepted or if there are any errors or problems with your submission.
When you have successfully completed the SED, you will receive a confirmation
Print out the confirmation and bring it to your presentation.
Bring all paperwork required (view the procedures for presentation of dissertation checklist) to your presentation. Your dissertation will not be placed in the stacks of the Fordham Library, but will be available online through the ProQuest/UMI Dissertation Database. If your department collects hard copies, GSAS will order a copy to be delivered to your department's library..
*Please be sure to follow the deadlines for graduation that are published on the GSAS Calendar.
