PROGRAM COSTS:

FINANCIAL AID:
In academic year 2010 - 2011, 63 students were enrolled in the philosophy program.  

In the philosophy program, 45 (65%) students had stipends, including:

  • 3 (7%) distinguished fellowships
  • 14 (31%) graduate assistantships
  • 8 (18%) teaching associates
  • 20 (44%) teaching fellows
  • 0 (0%) external funding

TIME TO COMPLETION:

Since 2001, Fordham’s Philosophy program has had:

  • 29 masters only graduates, with a median registered time to degree of 2.4 years
  • 58 students earned a master’s degree en route to a doctorate, with a median registered time to degree of 2.4 years
  • 19 students earned a doctorate with a non-Fordham master’s, with a median registered time to degree of 7.0 years
  • 33 students earned a doctorate with a Fordham master’s, with a median registered time to degree of 7.4 years for both degrees. 


INCOMING STUDENTS:

Of 27 admitted applicants for Fall 2009, 9 (33%) made up the entering doctoral cohort.

  • 7 (78%) Ph.D. students
  • 2 (22%) M.A. students

The entering cohort had GRE score (2008 - 2010) ranges of:

  • Verbal: 610-710
  • Quantitative: 640-750
  • Analytical Writing: 4.5-5.5

The average Bachelor’s GPA for incoming students:

  • 3.83

100% of 1st year Ph.D. students have merit based stipends and full tuition scholarships.
