Civil-Military Interaction in Development
Speaker: LTC Eric Deravin III
LTC Deravin has deployed twice to Iraq (2003-2004 and 2006-2007), where he worked Civil Affairs, Counter Intelligence, and Human Intelligence (HUMINT) operations. While serving in Iraq, LTC Deravin worked primarily on rebuilding the Iraqi criminal justice system, training Iraqi prison guards and rebuilding Abu Ghraib to address overcrowding issues. His unit was also involved in various village improvement projects, including starting a nursing training program for women. LTC Deravin has just returned from a tour in Afghanistan. He holds a Ph.D. from LaSalle University in Criminal Justice Management, and is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College. LTC Deravin retired as a Deputy Warden of Security, NYC Department of Correction.
