Symposia and Conference Planning
The Office of Student Development is available to help students plan and organize conferences or symposia for their department. These types of events are an important and vital part of graduate student life as they provide a great outlet for students to work with leaders in their field, enhance their skills professionally and make a personal contribution to their departments, the GSAS and the entire Fordham Community.
Those requesting funding from the GSAS must hold an initial planning meeting with the Director of Student Development, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences to discuss the important information about the process students must go through to be granted funding from the GSAS, as well as the planning and organization of the event. Please contact 718.817.4421 or email gotsis@fordham.edu, to set-up a meeting.
The Office of Student Development has also produced a Handbook for Student Run Symposia and Conferences. This handbook has been developed to assist graduate students who are responsible for the organization and coordination of conferences and symposia for their respective departments. A copy of the handbook can be picked up in Keating Hall 216.
