HOUSING FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS
Fordham does not offer any on-campus housing options for GSAS students. Most GSAS students live off campus in non-University sponsored housing. Here are some off-campus options:
University-Managed Apartments:
Arthur II (Bronx)
Arthur II is a University-operated graduate housing unit located at 2484-2488 Arthur Avenue, roughly two blocks from the Rose Hill campus. Click here for a map displaying Arthur II's location.
-
Each apartment includes five furnished single bedrooms, one and one half bathrooms, a furnished living room and dining room as well as a full kitchen.
-
There are 9 single-gender apartments, for a building total of 44 graduate students and 1 graduate manager.
-
Rooms are available for 9 months ($7,265) or 12 months ($8,280).
-
Payments are due at the beginning of the semester in both August and January (and May, if applicable).
-
Only registered full-time graduate students will be considered for housing.
Application Process: Contact the Office of Residential Life at Rose Hill at 718.817.3080 or email reslifeRH@fordham.edu for further information and an application.
Upper East Side Apartments
Single occupancy and one-bedroom apartments are available on the Upper East Side of Manhattan (81st Street, between York and East End), managed by the Office of Residential Life at Lincoln Center. Typically, these apartments are for Law students and graduate students at the Lincoln Center campus. However, it is possible for GSAS students to rent one of these apartments.
Application Process: Contact Graduate Manager Alexandra Hart-Chavez at 212.570.2723, or email gradhousing@fordham.edu.
Non-University Managed Apartments:
GSAS Housing Assistance Project
The GSAS Dean's office provides a network of students looking for roommates, and maintains a list of private off-campus housing, mostly in the Belmont neighborhood, as well as in Inwood.
-
The roommate listing is updated the most frequently, although take note of the date of the posting, as old postings are still up.
-
The page provides a helpful overview of neighborhoods where GSAS students live, as well as tips on searching for apartments.
More information can be obtained at the GSAS Housing Webpage or by calling the GSAS Dean's Office at 718.817.4400
The Owlslist - online posting board.
In the grand tradition of Craigslist (www.craigslist.org) there exists a Fordham version specifically for GSAS students.
Through Blackboard (available online off of the main Fordham page), GSAS students have access to an online posting
board. Categories include jobs, housing, carpools, books and other items for sale, and events announcements. Please

There is a housing posting board available on the GSAS's own Owlslist. You can get to it through Blackboard (link available off the main Fordham page). It is available for graduate students both to post available housing and to post in search of housing.
Other Tips
In your search for a non-University apartment, you should also:
-
Consult the incredibly useful craigslist.org. (This will also be a helpful site when you need help moving, or need cheap things for your lovely new place.)
-
Tell everyone you know that you are looking for housing -- you never know who might know something helpful.
-
Scour the ads in the Riverdale Press, the Bronx Press Review, the Irish Echo and the Irish Voice (all weeklies).
-
In Belmont/Little Italy, knock on the doors of supers of apartment buildings, or even ask people sitting on their front porches or working in stores if they know of any available apartments (identify yourself as a graduate student). Trust us, this actually works. It really does.
Other Options:
Undergraduate Dorms: Residence Directors
Second year graduate students may serve as Resident Directors in the Fordham dorms. Resident Directors receive free housing, tuition remission, and a stipend. Contact the Office of Residential Life to find out more about the application process. You should contact the office early during your first year because they accept applications in the Spring.
