2005-2006

Mariah Adin, Ph.D. student in History, has been named Fulbright Scholar to the Netherlands to facilitate research in the National Archives for her dissertation examining trans-Atlantic Dutch identity during the 17th century.  The project explores issues of self-identity while the Netherlands was involved in the colonization process, asking whether interaction with new cultures significantly shifted Dutch identity.

Jizhou Ai, M.S. student in Computer and Information Science, has been awarded the Herbert W. Bomzer Award. 

Jonathan Armstrong, Ph.D. student in Theology, has been awarded a Deutsche Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD) Research Grant.

Megan Avolio, Ph.D. student in Biological Sciences, has received a Fulbright Fellowship to study in Germany.

Lauren Baskir, Ph.D. student in Applied Developmental Psychology, has been awarded a Dissertation Research Grant. 

Heather Blatt, Ph.D. student in English, has been awarded a Grant-in-Aid, "Researching the Archives Seminar," from the Folger Shakespeare Library.

Michael Boler, Ph.D. student in Classics, has been awarded a Senior Teaching Fellowship.

Lisa Bonifer, M.A. student in International Political Economy and Development, has been awarded the United States Presidential Management Fellowship.

Jeneve Brooks-Klinger, Ph.D. student in Sociology, has been awarded a Dissertation Research Grant.

Maria Natalia Bustos, Ph.D. student in Classics, has been named a Fulbright Scholar from Argentina.

William Amory Carr, Ph.D. student in Clinical Psychology, has been awarded the New Investigator Award by the National Institute of Mental Health, Division of Mental Health Services Research.

Kayci Cassens, M.A. student in International Political Economy and Development, has been named a United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination Winner.

Erica Chin, Ph.D. student in Clinical Psychology, has been awarded an Alumni Dissertation Fellowship.

Christian Christian, M.A. student in International Political Economics and Development, has been made a Fulbright Scholar from Indonesia.

Rosemary Condella, Ph.D. student in Classics, has been awarded a Senior Teaching Fellowship.

Albert Coppola, Ph.D. student in English, has been awarded an Alumni Dissertation Fellowship and has been awarded a Grant-in-Aid, "Researching the Archives Seminar," from the Folger Shakespeare Library.

Tara Czechowski, Ph.D. student in English, and Mariah Adin, Ph.D. student in History, recently signed a contract with AMS Press to publish a co-edited book "The Commercial Gaze in the Long 18th Century."

Brendon Ellington, M.A. student in Communication and Media Studies, has received the Wade E. Pickren Award by the 17th Greater New York Conference on Behavior and Media Studies.

Heidi Febert, Ph.D. student in History, has been awarded a Senior Teaching Fellowship.

Evelyn Fetridge, Ph.D. student in Biological Sciences, has received an Honorable Mention in the National Science Foundation Graduate Student Research Fellowship, and has received the Clare Boothe Luce Fellowship.

Nichole Fiore, M.A. student in Economics, has received a Fulbright award to study in Hungary.

Brian Fox, Ph.D. student in Biological Sciences, has been awarded an Alumni Dissertation Fellowship.
Christina Furtado, Ph.D. student in English, has been awarded a Senior Teaching Fellowship.
Gary Gabor, Ph.D. student in Philosophy, has been awarded a Senior Teaching Fellowship.
Melissa Gallagher, Ph.D. student in Psychometrics, has been awarded a Senior Teaching Fellowship.
Debbie Green, Ph.D. student in Clinical Psychology, has been chosen as one of three student representatives to the Board of Directors of the Council of University Directors of Clinical Psychology (CUDCP).
Harold Ashley Hall, Ph.D. student in Theology, has been awarded an Alumni Dissertation Fellowship.
Josh Hall, Ph.D. student in Sociology & Anthropology, recently had his book review of "Your Evil Twin: Behind the Identity Theft Epidemic" accepted for publication in the journal Critical Criminology.

Christopher Libby, Ph.D. student in Clinical Psychology, has been awarded a Summer Fellowship with the Arthritis Foundation.
Ann Michaud, Ph.D. student in Theology, has been awarded the Elizabeth A. Johnson Dissertation Fellowship.
Rebecca Moir, M.A. student in International Political Economy and Development, has been named a Semi-Finalist, United States Presidential Management Fellowship.
Plamen Nikolov, Ph.D. student in Economics, has been made a Graduate Fellow by the American Academy of Political and Social Science.
Mark Nixon, Ph.D. student in Theology, has been awarded a Stipend Award from the Notre Dame Business and Ethics Conference.
Tracy O'Heir, M.A. student in International Political Economy and Development,has accepted a full-time position as a program manager coordinating emergency relief efforts in southern Sudan for Catholic Relief Services.  For the past semester Tracyhas served in Zimbabwe working on the problem of AIDS orphans as an International Development Fellow with Catholic Relief Services.

Matthew Pavone, M.A. student in International Political Economy and Development, has been awarded the United States Department of State Summer Placement with the US Mission to the United Nations.

Angela Solikova, M.A. student in International Political Economy and Development, is a Fulbright Scholar from Slovakia.
Rajiv Thakur, M.S. student in Computer and Information Science, has been awarded the Herbert W. Bomzer Award.
Arvind Thomas, Ph.D. student in English, has had his article, "Milton and Table Manners," published in the March 2006 issue of Milton Quarterly.
Kathleen Urda, Ph.D. student in English, has been awarded a Grant-in-Aid, "Researching the Archives Seminar," from the Folger Shakespeare Library.
Angela Ventling, M.A. student in International Political Economy and Development, has been awarded the United States Foreign Agricultural Service Summer Placement with the Office of International Trade Policy, US Foreign Agricultural Service. She has also been named a United States Peace Corps Fellow of Fordham University.
William Verzani, M.A. student in International Political Economy and Development, has been awarded the United States Department of State Summer Placement in the US Embassy to the Philippines.
Marija Vlainchovska, M.A. student in International Political Economy and Development, is a Fulbright Scholar from Macedonia.
Joyce Weil, Ph.D. student in Sociology, delivered a paper "The Reification of 'Old Women': Some Sociological Theorists' Views" at the Midwest Sociological Society's Annual Meeting in Omaha, Nebrasks, on March 31, 2006. 
Paul Wilkins, M.A. student in International Political Economy and Development, has been awarded the United States Miles Fellowship.
Jared Woodard, Ph.D. student in Philosophy, has had an article accepted for publication:  "Faith, Hope, and Love:  The Inducement of the Subject in Badiou" in Journal of Philosophy and Scripture 3:1 (Fall 2005).
David Woods, Ph.D. student in Sociology, was recently elected to serve as the Region 1 (Northeast) Director to the American Planning Association (a 501(c)3) on the APA National Board of Directors for 2006-2010.
Betty Yim, M.A. student in International Political Economy and Development, has been awarded the United States Foreign Agricultural Service Summer Placement with the US Embassy to South Korea.
Thomas Zahora, Ph.D. student in History, has been awarded an Alumni Dissertation Fellowship.
