A teacher needs more than a foundation in earth science to nurture middle school and high school students’ knowledge and appreciation of the natural sciences. This program develops teacher candidates’ knowledge and understanding of adolescent learning and development, educational theory, and best practices in science education.

The program is distinguished by exceptionally strong field experiences, carefully coordinated sequence of courses progressing from foundations and teaching methods, and a capstone requirement which includes the development of a Teacher Work Sample. Candidates’ development is supported by expert faculty, master teachers and field advisers/mentors.

Program Pre-Requisites

Applicants must have 30 college credits in Earth Science courses.
