Teaching Programs

General and Exceptional Adolescents

The program in adolescence and special education is an integrated dual certification program that leads to New York state certification as subject area classroom teacher for adolescents grades 7-12 and students with disabilities 7-12 generalist with a subject area extension.

The program is distinguished by exceptionally strong field experiences, carefully coordinated sequence of courses progressing from foundations and teaching methods, and a capstone requirement which includes the development of a teacher portfolio.
