Why I Chose Fordham

Originally, when applying to colleges out of high school, I had a teacher that was a proud Fordham graduate and took every opportunity to tell us that in class. He urged me to apply and believed I would be a great fit for the school. He and I read up on the different undergraduate programs and activities, which really turned me on to Fordham. So, before even seeing the campus at Rose Hill, I sent in my enrollment card.

Since that time I have grown to love Fordham for its diverse faculty, students, and avenues of knowledge. One of the major reasons I choose to continue my education at Fordham at the Graduate School of Education was because of its extremely helpful and enthusiastic faculty and staff. Meeting and engaging with these individuals provided a sense of comfort in that they want to see you succeed and grow, while challenging you to do your best.

As I have found with my time here, the university does not merely want you to gain knowledge to become a part of given field, but expects you to gain the insight necessary to be a leader and pioneer within your field.

Future Aspirations

Ultimately, I would like to be an administrator within a school district or college/university setting. Following graduation from my Ph.D. program, I plan to pursue licensure as a psychologist and certification as a school psychologist.

I’d like to work within a school district, either focusing on the middle and high school levels or at the district wide level. In this role I would like to implement prevention and intervention services to encourage the mental well-being of all students and staff within the building and the entire district.

Additionally, I would like to assist in cultivating a healthy attitude and atmosphere for the district by working with administration and faculty to develop these. Furthermore, I hope to eventually go into private practice focusing on family and adolescent psychology, as well as conducting some research on resiliency and motivation of individuals and groups.
