Fordham University is an independent institution offering education based on the Jesuit tradition of teaching. Founded in 1841 at Rose Hill in the Bronx, Fordham comprises four undergraduate and six graduate schools located on three campuses-the 85-acre green and Gothic campus at Rose Hill in the Bronx, Lincoln Center in mid-Manhattan, and a graduate center in suburban Tarrytown.

Fordham at Lincoln Center was established in 1961 with the construction of the School of Law. The seven-acre campus also consists of Lowenstein Center, the main academic building, which opened in 1968, and a new 20-story residence hall. These three buildings are connected by a newly landscaped central plazaas well as indoor passage-ways. Lowenstein Center houses the University's undergraduate Fordham College at Lincoln Center and the Graduate Schools of Business Administration, Education and Social Service.
