I. To increase NYCDOE capacity to provide Bilingual School Psychology Services.
• To work closely with metropolitan colleges and universities for the purpose of identifying and recruiting appropriate candidates for their Bilingual School Psychology Programs.
• To recruit candidates through college university programs and professional organizations outside of New York City.
II. To ensure the availability of Bilingual School Psychologists “in the pipeline”, preparing for employment with NYCDOE by completing certification requirements
• Develop effective procedures for information dissemination regarding recruitment to Bilingual School Psychology training programs, scholarship programs, financial aid, and alternate pathways.
• Expand recruitment efforts targeted to bilingual undergraduates close to graduation with majors in psychology and related fields.
III. To promote retention and development of excellence in the professional practice of bilingual school psychology in NYCDOE.
• Build Professional Development capacity with the building of “turnkey trainers” with specialized knowledge and skills targeted to Bilingual School Psychologists to implement current initiatives and sustain ongoing and future Professional Development initiatives.
• Orientation for newly assigned Bilingual School Psychologists addressing current practices and issues.
• Professional development in support of P.I.T. interns.
