The LI/W BETLA’s Mission
LI/W BETLA's Mission is to Instill Strong Leadership Skills in exemplary bilingual/ESL teachers, who will then embark on a learning journey focused on building successful professional learning communities for English Language Learners. Your Teacher Leaders will collaborate with other teachers via instructional conversations, coaching/modeling and action research in a quest to develop high intellectual performance and English language proficiency for English Language Learners. In addition, Teacher Leaders will have the distinct privilege of working side by side with Fordham University faculty members and mentors who are experts in second language learning and school leadership. Mentors will support the Teacher Leaders in creating model classrooms that will be used as professional learning lab sites geared to support all teachers in their journey to develop and hone their skills in teaching second language learners.
