Our goal is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of learning in unsupervised environments.

Within the context of homework, our goal is to replace ineffective study tasks with homework tasks that result in significantly better comprehension and long-term retention.

Within the context of instructional design, our goal is to create guidelines that enable teachers, textbook designers, and instructional designers to construct more effective study tasks.

Within the contexts of learning-to-learn and metacognition, our goal is to determine the conditions under which students adopt practiced cognitive events for unsupervised study.
