- Ph.D. program in Counseling Psychology is fully accredited by the American Psychological Association. APA Office of Program Consultation and Accreditation (202-336-5979), 750 First St. NE, Washington, DC 20002. It is based on the scientist-practitioner model. Upon completion of all requirements for the Ph.D. degree, students are qualified for practice either independently or in colleges, agencies, clinics, hospitals and other settings and are well-grounded in research methods. In addition, program graduates will have satisfied the academic and internship requirements for licensing as a psychologist in New York state.

DOCTORAL PROGRAM DISCLOSURE OF EDUCATION/TRAINING DATA

- M.S.Ed. program in Counseling & Personnel Services/School Counseling (60 credits) with a specializations in school counseling.
|
- M.S.Ed. program in Mental Health Counseling (60 Credits) is designed to prepare mental health counselors who will work in mental health clinics, community mental health center, hospitals, nonprofit counseling agencies, college and university campuses, corporate mental health services (e.g., employee assistance programs, personnel departments, mental health support units)and are eligible to open independent private practices after licensure.

The following are basic program information and criteria for admissions for Counseling Psychology Programs. For more detailed information see: GSE's Bulletin.

- possess a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
- show evidence of professional promise (personal, interpersonal and intellectual characteristics
- appropriate to the profession and the ability to communicate effectively); evidence may be contained in the student’s application for admission, or may be sought in an interview with a member of the program faculty, ifdeemed appropriate
- have earned a minimum undergraduate grade point average of approximately 3.0 (B or better)
- provide two reference reports
- demonstrate satisfactory commandof oral and written English
- provide proof of immunization against measles, mumps and rubella
