3. University Commencement and Diploma Ceremony Information: 

• What is the date of the 2008 University Commencement and GSE Diploma Ceremony?
  Saturday, May 17, 2008.
• Where will the University Commencement be held and when will it begin and end?
  Edwards Parade, Rose Hill Campus, 441 East Fordham Road, Bronx, NY 10458.  Graduates and faculty should be lined up no later than 9:30 AM, the Commencement procession will begin at 10:00 AM, and Commencement will end at about 12:00 Noon.
• Where will the GSE Diploma Ceremony be held and when will it begin and end?
  Jack Coffey Field on the Rose Hill Campus.Graduates and faculty should be lined up by 12:30 PM, the GSE Diploma Ceremony procession will begin at 12:45 PM, and the Diploma Ceremony should end by 2:00 PM. 
• Do GSE graduates have to participate in the Commencement exercises and the GSE Diploma Ceremony?
  No. 
  Some graduates attend both events, but others choose to attend the GSE Diploma Ceremony only.
• What time should graduates arrive for Commencement?
  7:30 AM if they commute by auto or 9:00 AM if they use mass transit.
• Where do GSE graduates line-up for the Commencement at 9:00 AM?
  Next to Edwards Parade; signs will be posted and security guards will give directions.
• Where and when do GSE graduates line-up for the GSE Diploma Ceremony after Commencement?
  Near the Walsh Training Center located between Jack Coffey Field and the Lombardi Memorial Center no later than 12:30 PM.
  To get to the Walsh Training Center, graduates and faculty should walk down the service road between the McGinley Gym on the left and the bleachers of Coffey Field on the right.  The Walsh Training Center is located at the end of this particular road.
  The April 21st mailing which will be sent to graduates who will participate in these ceremonies will contain a map that will detail the line-up area.
  If there is a severe weather emergency, GSE graduates will line-up in the Fordham Prep Cafeteria.
• What happens if there is a severe weather emergency? 
  In the event of severe weather emergency, GSE graduates, their guests, and faculty should report to Fordham Prep on the Rose Hill Campus by 9:30 AM.  The Commencement will be simulcast beginning at 10:00 AM. If there is a severe weather emergency but GSE graduates and their guests will not attend the Commencement, arrive at Fordham Prep no later than 12:30 PM for the GSE Diploma Ceremony.The GSE Diploma Ceremony will be held in the Father Leonard Theater at Fordham Prep if there is a severe weather emergency.
• How many guests can GSE graduates bring to Commencement and the GSE Diploma ceremony?
  If these events are held outdoors, graduates can bring as many guests as they want.
  If these events are held indoors, graduates can only bring four (4) guests due to limited seating which will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis.
• Do the guests of GSE graduates need admission tickets for Commencement and/or the GSE Diploma Ceremony, whether these events are held outdoors of indoors?
  No
• Can relatives or friends arrive early and “block-off” seats for guests?
  No 
• What GSE graduates are eligible to participate in the 2008 Commencement Exercises and Diploma Ceremony?
  August 2007 graduates, February 2008 graduates, May 2008 graduates, and August 2008 graduate candidates. Note: August 2008 graduate candidates will not be named in the 2008 Commencement booklet. Instead their names will appear in the 2009 edition.

• Will graduates receive their Diplomas on Commencement Day?
  August 2007, February 2008, and May 2008 graduates will receive their diplomas, if and only if, they registered for EDGE 0888, completed all academic requirements for the respective degrees, and paid all University bills and fees in full. August 2008 graduates will not receive their diplomas on Commencement Day.  
• Are food and beverages available on Commencement Day?
  Food and beverages can be purchased in the McGinley Center and at various on-campus concession stands.
• When willthe GSE graduation letter and related information be mailed to graduates and prospective graduates?
  March 19, 2008.
• When must graduates register for the Commencement and Diploma Ceremony?
  No later than April 4th
• How do GSE graduates register for Commencement and the GSEDiploma Ceremony? Mail or hand-deliver the participation form toRoom 1121 at Lincoln Center no later than April 4th.
• If graduates register by April 4th, will they receive a 2nd and final mailing?
  Yes. A second and final mailing will be sent on April 21.
• Can GSE graduates attend the Commencement and Diploma Ceremony if they do not register by April 4th?
  No
• When must graduates order their caps and gowns on-line?
  No later than April 4th at midnight.
• How do GSE graduates order their caps and gowns?

  Can graduates obtain a cap and gown if they do not order by April 4th?
  No
• When and where can GSE graduates and faculty pick up their caps and gowns if they ordered them by April 4th?
  Lincoln Center Campus on Saturday, May 10 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and on Thursday, May 15 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM – Location is McMahon Lounge. Westchester Campus on Wednesday, May 7 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM – Location is Rita II and III, Rita Hall, 2nd Floor. Rose Hill Campus on Saturday, May 17 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM – Location is McGinley Center, Commuter Lounge. Note: Caps and gowns can only be picked up at the campus you selected when you ordered.
• When and where do GSE graduates and faculty members return their rented caps and gowns?
  Commuter Lounge in the basement of the McGinley Center.
• Will here be a reception after the GSE Diploma Ceremony?
  No.
• If the GSE Diploma Ceremony will not end until 2:00 PM, what would be a good time to schedule a dinner reservation or start a social event?
  4:00 PM at the earliest due to traffic and travel time.
