What is Pastoral de Conjunto?
Pastoral de conjunto is not easy to translate.  Some call it collaborative ministry, but it is more than that.  It is a way of exercising ministry in the Church that presupposes respect, coordination and cooperation among bishops, priests, religious and lay men and women so as to evangelize and advance the Kingdom of God that Jesus Christ proclaimed.  Pastoral de conjunto implies a vision of the Church as communion with a Hispanic flavor that can also be fruitful for the Church at large in the NY Metropolitan area.  At the same time, pastoral de conjunto, which is more common at the local level than among the Hispanic ministry leadership at the regional or diocesan level, is fragile and brings with it both opportunities and threats.
