Our bachelor of arts in social work degree is a 33-credit program. All students are expected to complete the major in two years on either a full-time or part-time basis.
The major consists of:
- a yearlong, 600-hour fieldwork practicum and an Integrative Seminar integrating classroom knowledge with your experiences in the field (9 credits)
COURSEWORK
The coursework is spread across four semesters:
- You can start Semester 1 in spring or fall.
- You can start Semester 2 in fall or summer.
The first year always consists of four classroom courses and faculty advising.
The second year consists of two generalist social work practice courses, two research classes, the Field Practicum and Integrative Seminar, and faculty advising.
Regardless of when you enter the program, you must complete Human Behavior and the Social Environment I and II, Human Rights and Social Justice, and Social Welfare Policy and Services I before entering the fieldwork practicum.
