This workshop will provide a template for the replication of the Education-Outreach Program (EOP), an effective 12-week program that creates a supportive community for those who have been homeless through the incorporation of mentors, life-skills training and the sharing of one’s story. These methods have proven successful in helping nearly 1,000 men and women recover from the trauma of homelessness, find housing and employment, reconnect with their families, and rebuild their lives. This program also serves as an effective vehicle for developing a community of the homeless, formerly homeless, mentors and resource people who can collaborate in advocating for improved public policy regarding the homeless and the marginally housed. Join two of the founders of EOP and two co-facilitators of the most recent EOP replication (and the first based in a synagogue) and learn how social workers, lay and religious leaders might be able to implement this program within their congregations or community.
