Sunday, September 27, 2009, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Essence of Gestalt
Presenter: Naaz Hosseini, MA, LP


This one-day course provides an overview of the theoretical framework underlying the practice of gestalt therapy. Learn about and explore a variety of tools and techniques, such as present-centered awareness, chair work, contact boundary, layers theory (as it relates to the transformation process) and dream work. This dynamic course will include a combination of lectures, experiential exercises and live demonstrations of gestalt therapy. Seven CEUs will be awarded for the day.

Creative Art Therapy Workshop: Music, Dance and Poetry & Journal Therapy
 
Presenters: Suzi Tortora, Ed.D, ADTR, CMA, LCAT, LMHC, KMP (Music); Nancy Scherlong, LCSW, PTR, MS (Poetry and Journalling); Karen Popkin, LCAT, HPMT, MT-BC (Dance)

This unique, half-day creative seminar in group therapy will introduce participants to music, dance, and poetry as therapeutic techniques. Participants from the previous CAT workshops will deepen their skills and learn new techniques. Four CEUs will awarded for this workshop.

Thursday, October 8, 2009, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Supporting Families Through Separation or Divorce: Legal Options & Parenting Issues
Presenter: Monica Rickenberg, Esq, MSW


The workshop will provide an overview of legal process options - traditional litigation, collaborative law and mediation - and present the pro's and con's of each. The presentation will address the dynamics of divorce and the psychological impact of law and legal involvement on adults, children and family systems. The talk will offer social workers strategies for helping clients navigate the various stages from pre-divorce contemplation post-divorce interactions. Parenting issues and children's experiences will be emphasized. Two CEUs will be awarded for this workshop.
