Fordham University The Jesuit University of New York

We work with you to design your program. Flexible plans of study, actual work experience through our field work programs, weekday and Saturday classes, financial aid, and our two campus locations enable us to create solutions on an individual level. We make it all possible.

Many students choose Fordham because of the flexibility of its approach to students and the many options for completing the program. You can choose between two campuses for your classes and internship seminar. In addition a satellite program is available for students wishing to begin some of their studies on Long Island and complete the program at the Lincoln Center Campus in Manhattan.

With full-time and part-time plans of study, transfer of credit for social work courses already completed, and a full roster of classes on Saturdays as well as during the week, Fordham can accommodate your busy life. Whether you are a brand new college graduate ready to move on to a full-time program of classes and internship, a working student with a full-time job, a parent with young children, a career-changer with concerns about getting back into the classroom, or a long time practitioner with a need to refine your skills and seek new horizons, Fordham makes it possible at each degree level.

Fordham offers academic programs at three degree levels:

• Baccalaureate, (BASW)
• Masters (MSW)
• Doctoral. (PhD in SW)

If you are beginning college or have completed two years of a liberal arts degree, you may wish to consider a Social Work major at the Baccalaureate Level. If you have a Bachelors degree in Arts or Science, the MSW degree would be your choice. If you have a Masters degree in Social Work or a related field, experience in delivery of human services, and a goal of teaching, research or policy planning, a Ph.D. offers the next level of professional training>

An integral part of the MSW and BA programs is the field work or internship experience. Here students are assigned to work in real agencies with real clients under careful supervision of experienced social workers. Field work is performed in conjunction with classes in practice methods. At the foundation level (or Baccalaureate Level in the undergraduate program) field work experience is "generic," an introduction to social work methods and the populations traditionally served by social workers. In the advanced year, the internship is more specifically focused on specialized areas of practice chosen by the student and reflects a more in-depth approach to problem-solving.
