Dr. Gao’s research centers on social policies and their impact on families and their children in an international context. Her current research projects include: 1) the Chinese social benefit system in transition and its impact on poverty, income inequality, and family economic wellbeing; and 2) the impact of welfare reforms and in particular, the Earned Tax Income Credit policy, on the consumption patterns of low-income families and their children in the U.S. She currently teaches research methods and policy courses at Fordham’s Lincoln Center campus.
