Dr. Cooper is an Associate Professor in the Clinical Area. She has published numerous scholarly articles and presented many conference papers on all aspects of clinical practice. She teaches courses in clinical practice with adults, children and families, cognitive/behavioral social work practice, and a seminar in clinical social work practice. She co-chaired the clinical area for 9 years, and is currently co-chair of the curriculum committee. Among her numerous publications are articles on Trauma, Integrative Psychotherapy, Depression and Suicide, Multi-Cultural/Cross Racial Therapies, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Addictive Disorders. She has taught suicide risk prevention to social work students in China at the South China Agricultural University and is a member of the Advisory Committee of Sun Yat Sen University Research Institute for Migrant Health Policy in Guangzhou. She has received grant funding for research on depression in Chinese elders and violence against children and families in Jamaica, West Indies. She is the co-author of "Clinical Social Work Practice, An Integrated Approach," a clinical textbook that is going into a 5th edition. In 2008 Dr. Cooper was elected President of the New Jersey Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, the fourth largest chapter in the country.
