Fordham University The Jesuit University of New York

Social workers interested in providing field instruction to graduate-level social work students must be licensed masters-level social workers with at least 3 years post masters experience. In addition, proposed field instructors must have successfully completed the Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI) or take the seminar concurrently with supervising their first student.

The purpose of the SIFI is to provide new field instructors with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively meet their educational responsibilities as teachers of social work students.

Seminars will meet for a total of 12 two-hour sessions during the academic year. Classes will generally meet bi-monthly in the fall, and monthly in the spring, at the Lincoln Center, Fordham Westchester, and Molloy campuses. There is no charge for the seminar, and once successfully completed, field instructors will be qualified to supervise students from any school of social work in the Tri-State area.
