LEARNED LUNCH EVENTS

Learned Lunch events continue this month.  Pre-registration is required!  Refreshments will be served unless otherwise indicated.
  • Lincoln Center Campus - Sign-up sheets are on the door of Room 717-A or e-mail Polly Kaplan at pokaplan@fordham.edu.
  • Westchester Campus - Please sign up with Laura Sutter in Room 106-A or e-mail her at lsutter@fordham.edu.

FACULTY ADVISORS

For those of you in a field placement and the EESSP program, your faculty advisor is the professor who leads your Integrative Seminar. Check the 7th floor postings (on the LC Campus) to see who it is and where your seminar will meet. If you are a part-time student not yet in field placement, your advisor is Polly Kaplan. Ms. Kaplan's office is in Room 717A and her email address is pokaplan@fordham.edu. if you are a Non-Matriculated student, your advisor is Associate Dean Susan Egan. She can be reached at egan@fordham.edu or 212-636-6605.

ADMINISTRATIVE COVERAGE

For Saturday students (on the LC Campus) there is always an administrator in Room 726 or Room 717A from 8:30am - 3:30pm to assist with questions and concerns. For evening students, Mr. Johnny Torres is available until 5:30pm in Room 726.

GSS WRITING ADVISOR

Dr. Dana Holman is the GSS writing advisor. He offers a free Blackboard course on competent writing skills for social workers. If you are interested in being enrolled, please contact Dr. Holman at holman@fordham.edu.

STUDENT GROUPS

We are very eager to have special interest groups during the academic year. Polly Kaplan, Assistant Director of Student Services, coordinates this effort. Please contact her at pokaplan@fordham.edu or stop by her office in Room 717A (LC Campus) if you are interested in participating or have ideas.

FEBRUARY 1, 2015 GRADUATES

The deadline this year for filing to graduate for all February grads is Saturday, September 20th. You can file by going to your my.Fordham.edu account and clicking on your Student Tab. Click on Banner Self Serve, then click on Student Records and then click on "Apply to Graduate".

DEAN EGAN'S BLACKBOARD "COURSE"

Another vehicle for information about GSS is Dean Egan's Blackboard "Course" - no fee, no homework. If you're not already registered, send Dean Egan an email - egan@fordham.edu - then check the site periodically.

STUDENT ID CARDS

Fordham IT is now in charge of distributing ID cards to all new students (returning students may continue to use their IDs from last year). If you were not able to pick up your ID at Orientation, you may visit the tables in the lobby by the escalators (LC Campus) on the following dates and times:

Monday, 8/25 from 4:30pm to 6pm
Wednesday, 9/3 from 8am to 1pm and 4pm to 8pm
Saturday, 9/6 from 8am to 2pm

If you had difficulty uploading a picture you can visit the table for help. You can also go to ID Services across from SL 128 on the street level past the Library at the end of the hallway, if you are not able to make the distribution dates or need assistance.

PEOPLE'S CLIMATE MARCH

The first global "People's Climate March" is happening on Sunday 9/21 in NYC, kicking off at Columbus Circle. The march has been scheduled to coincide with the UN summit on the climate crisis. This march is an excellent opportunity to participate in, and learn about, social advocacy while witnessing global concerns being translated to direct local action. For more information visit www.peoplesclimate.org
