Interdisciplinary Programs/Joint Degrees

Social Work and Law

This program is designed for graduate students seeking both a JD degree from the School of Law at Fordham University and an MSW degree from the Graduate School of Social Service.  Eligiblity for the program requires simultaneous application and admission to both Schools.

A complete description of the program is found in the brochure which can be downloaded as a PDF file by clicking here.

MSW/MDiv Program

A colloborative program with the New York Theological Seminary enables students to earn both an M.S.W. and an M.Div. degree.  Seminary classes are offered in the evening and Social Work classes are held on Saturday.  Students must apply and be admitted to both Schools. This program is primarily designed for those already working in a ministry setting. Seminary students can transfer 12 credits into the MSW degree from the Master of Divinity program. Due to the nature of this program and its compatibility with the mission of Fordham University, students enrolled in this joint program are given a 50% reduction in tuition at the Graduate School of Social Service.

For further information on these specialized degree programs, please contact the Dean of Extramural Programs, Dr. Elaine Congress, 212-636-6667; congress@fordham.edu.

Certificate in psychotherapy or family therapy/Blanton-Peale Institute

This is not a joint degree, but rather a collaborative program in which students may obtain a certificate in psychotherapy from the Blanton-Peale Graduate Institute. Students in the MSW may be granted some transfer of credit at Blanton Peale, while Blanton Peale students could also transfer some credits toward the MSW degree.  In addition the Advanced Year placement would be completed at the Blanton-Peale program.

Again, further information on this specialized program would be available through the Office of the Dean of Extramural Programs, Dr. Elaine Congress, 212-636-6667; congress@fordham.edu.
