Resources for GSS Researchers
The GSS Research Office helps GSS faculty members secure external funding for their work.  Our effort enable faculty researchers to pursue larger projects than they could with Fordham's small internal grants alone.

We help faculty:
  • develop an overall research program
  • develop ideas for a specific grant
  • identify potential funders
  • prepare letters of inquiry to foundations
  • prepare a list of "to dos" with timelines
  • provide consultation on the proposal, including budget preparation
  • identify mock reviewers
  • assemble required documentation
  • facilitate IRB submissions
  • work with the appropriate University office to submit applications to funders

We have compiled many resources to help you apply and win funding for your project:

  • The GSS Resources and Procedures Manual explains how to apply for social work funding and how GSS and University resources can help.  Faculty can access the most current manual on the GSS Blackboard site.  (Go to Blackboard > Organizations > GSS Research Office > Documents.)
  • Our Funding Sources webpage lists many sources for social work research grants.

Angela M. Belsole, the GSS full-time grants and special projects officer, is available to help faculty with their research projects.  She also oversees non-research GSS training and service contracts.  She can be reached at and (212) 636-6725.
