Please read the following general information carefully, ask yourself the following questions before registration.

What is my PIN?

A Personal Identification Number (PIN) is used as an extra level of security on OASIS.  If you cannot remember your PIN call Assistant Dean Susan Egan at (212) 636-6605 or Polly Kaplan at (212) 636-7352 at Lincoln Center or Assistant Dean Jane Edwards at (914) 332-6007 or Phyllis Gillians at (914) 332-6006 at Tarrytown.  If you have never used OASIS, your temporary PIN is the last 4 digits of the ZIP code of your permanent address.  If you are a first time user and the last 4 digits of your zip code doesn’t work, try using 9999 or the first four digits of your zip code before calling us.

Am I on “hold”?

If you have a financial obligation to the University, if your record of immunization is not on file with the Health Center, or if you are on an Admissions hold, you will not be allowed to register.  If you are on a deferred payment plan, please make payment by the payment due date listed on the promissory note, or prior to your registration date, whichever date is first.  You can determine if you are on hold by selecting the registration option on OASIS.

Is there a difference between the “Registration” option and the “Add/Drop” option?

NO!  For the Graduate School of Social Service, you may use either the “Registration” option or the “Add/Drop” option during the entire period of registration.

How should I develop my schedule?

Use your plan of study to decide which courses you need.  Enclosed in this mailing is an Advisement Work Sheet that indicates all courses you have taken and courses in progress.  If you are uncertain about what to take, consult your plan of study or faculty advisor.

Should I wait to register?

NO!  If you wait to register courses may be closed or canceled.  Registration is in real time.  Any delay will mean you lose your priority.

What do I need to register?

Please have your desired schedule and alternate choices selected and organized before logging on to OASIS.  When you register using OASIS it is a “live” environment.  Therefore you will receive immediate conformation concerning your schedule.  Delays in your preparation may result in your inability to receive your desire courses.

Instructions to Register

Using OASIS (On-line Access to student information system)

www.fordham.edu

  1. Connect to the Fordham University homepage by logging on to www.fordham.edu.  Click on current students then OASIS or from the homepage click on OASIS from the Quicklinks menu.
  2. Click on “Enter Student Services.”
  3. You are prompted to enter your new 8 digit student ID number.  Every student was mailed their new student ID number in the Fall.  If you do not know what your ID number is, be sure to ask in the Deans’ Office before registration begins.  It is also on the printout next to your SID.
  4. You are then prompted to enter your personal identification number (pin).  As an added measure of security, each student must have a Personal Identification Number (pin) in addition to their social security number to access OASIS.  You will be prompted to enter a 4 digit PIN when logging in.  If it is the first you are using either this or the telephone registration system you must change your pin.  To change your pin, see step 5.  If you have already change your pin through previous use of the telephone or web (your pin is the same for both) please go to step 6.
  5. You will be required to change your temporarily assigned pin if it is the first you are using OASIS or FASTR 1841 to any four digit number of your choosing before you can proceed to the available applications.  Each pin must contain four digits.  Your temporarily assigned pin is the last 4 digits of the zip code of your permanent address on record with the University.

For example… John Doe’s permanent address is:

22 Anystreet Ave.

Bronx, NY 10463

Therefore, his temporarily assigned pin is 0463.  The first time John Doe uses OASIS he will be prompted to change his pin to any four digit combination other than 0463.  If for some reasons the computer doesn’t understand the last four digits of your zip code, try 9999 before calling us.  If is works, then change it to a number you will remember.  You will also be prompted to type in a question that will remind you of your pin if you should forget it.  After you change your pin you can use the web to their fullest available extent.  You my change your pin any time you desire, although it not advisable because it may lead to confusion.

You may change your pin before your next registration.  Log on at your earliest convenience and get familiar with OASIS!

  2. If a course is closed you can use the “course sections” option from the OASIS home page.  Click on “Graduate School of Social Service.”  Select the appropriate subject.  Although the only option is “Social Work” you still need to highlight it before clicking on “Select.”  A list of available course will be able to view the available sections for that course.  Be careful to note that course with numbered sections are at Lincoln Center, course with lettered sections are at Tarrytown.
  3. If you only want to drop a class on the condition that another will be added in its place, you can use the conditional drop/add option on OASIS.  Enter the call numbers in the appropriate boxes.  (This will only work if you are both dropping and adding courses at the same time.)
  4. Registration is immediate.  Print out your schedule for further reference.  Room numbers will be posted before each new semester.
