Dear CBA Juniors,

Reflecting back on my junior year in 1982-83, it was my favorite year. I knew the faculty, staff and administration at the College of Business; I had already formed strong and lasting friendships; I started courses in my major; I lived in an apartment with a huge balcony for cookouts and I did not yet have to worry about what I was going to do after graduating. In other words, I felt on the top of my game with no worries.

While many things remain the same for you, others have changed. I hope that you feel at home here at CBA, that you have seriously thought about your major or concentration and that you feel on the top of your game. However, the world has changed since 1983. In order to prepare yourself for a job after college you need to use this year to develop professionally and to make contacts in your area of business. In addition, you are encouraged to obtain an internship that will help you meet your post-graduation goals.

I trust that you will continue to treat your education as the best preparation for your future career. I encourage you to prepare for each class as if you were going into a business meeting ready to fully participate and to learn.

The career center, other CBA administrators and I are ready to help you in these endeavors. I hope that you feel on top of your game and remember, you are in my prayers as you meet the challenges of this formational year.

Fr. Bernard J. Barry, SJ
