Dear CBA Sophomores,
Sophomore year is an exciting year in the College of Business Administration at Fordham University. You will begin to dive deeper into your business core and begin to gain an even greater understanding of business from these outstanding classes. In addition you will be exploring in greater depth the options and directions available to you in the business school. These options vary greatly. From seeking your academic direction and area of study to integrating extra-curricular or co-curricular experiences into your program. Over the past few years students have found the following co-curricular experiences and academic experiences to be of interest to them. Here is a list of just a few of these opportunities that you might want to consider:
- Membership or leadership positions in student clubs
Business related clubs (Finance Society, Information Systems Society, CEO Breakfast Club, GLOBE Club, Beta Alpha Psi, etc.)
Other Academic clubs
Cultural clubs (El Grito, the Polish Cultural Exchange, etc.)
- Participation in United Student Government
- Service Learning
- Internships
- Pre-professional student memberships (New York Society of Security Analysts-NYSSA, Direct Marketing Association-DMA, etc.)
- Participation in academic competitions (NYSSA Investment Research Challenge, Debate Society, the Fed Challenge, xTax, etc.)
- Volunteer opportunities (Global Outreach, POTS, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, etc.)
During the sophomore year we will explore and discuss many of these together at the sophomore advising sessions and on one on one basis. My job is to help you better understand all of the opportunities that exist for you and to help guide you in your pursuits. I know that this will be a very productive and exciting year, one filled with the promise of things to come.
I encourage you to come and stop by my office to discuss any and all of these exciting opportunities. I look forward to seeing you throughout the year and in the years to come.
Sincerely,
Steven Najdzionek
Sophomore Class Dean
