Finance

Located in the world's financial capital, the College of Business Administration enables students to explore a variety of careers in the financial services industry. For example, recent explosive growth in investment funds has created a demand for brokerage services, security analysis for both equity and fixed income, and portfolio management services.

There are three major career orientations in the field of finance: corporate finance, investment management and financial institutions. The offering in corporate finance is appropriate for students interested in the investment and financing decisions of business firms and nonprofit organizations. Emphasis is placed on the development of analytic techniques and understanding the economic environment influencing day-to-day and long-term financial decisions. Investment management is intended for students primarily interested in the evaluation of securities and the management of portfolios. Here the focus is on the relationship between the economic environment and the valuation of securities. The financial institutions program is offered in cooperation with the economics department and is intended to serve commercial banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions not generally covered under corporate finance and investment management.
