A grasp of emerging markets is crucial to any student of international business, and Gabelli students strengthened theirs with a two-week study tour to the Indian cities of Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Agra and Pune.
The itinerary was packed with visits to the headquarters of Indian corporations and multinational firms. On the list: Thinksoft, Himalaya Drug Company, Tata Motors, Merrill Lynch, Macquarie Bank, Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank. The students, who had recently completed a one-semester Gabelli course titled Investing in India, also visited the stock exchange in Mumbai.
It would've been unthinkable to travel in India without visiting the Taj Mahal, and the group also went to the tomb of the Mughal emperor Humayun, commissioned in the mid-1500s. Students then got to see what their Indian peers’ college experience looks like, through a visit to Mumbai's Xavier College — which is, like Fordham, a Jesuit institution.
