Cristina Sogno
Dr. Sogno teaches Latin and Greek at Fordham, as well as courses about Greco-Roman literature and civilization. Ask her about Classics at Fordham or simply let her know about your interests!

Amy Aronson
Professor Aronson teaches as a scholar-practitioner who studies magazine and media history from a gender perspective. She is a specialist in the social, cultural and literary history of the American women's magazine. A former editor at Working Woman and Ms., her work has also appeared in such publications as BusinessWeek, Global Journalist, Working Mother and the Boston Globe. Come to her with questions about news or feature journalism, whether they be historical, cultural, or occupational.

Mary Bly
Professor Bly teaches everything from Shakespeare & Popular Culture to Genre Fiction. Ask her about Shakespeare at Fordham, or the range of creative writing courses offered...or just tell her about your own work!

Elizabeth Frost
A poet and critic, Elisabeth Frost is the author of a collection of poetry, All of Us (White Pine Press, 2011); a chapbook, Rumor (Mermaid Tenement Press, 2009); and a critical study, The Feminist Avant-Garde in American Poetry (University of Iowa Press, 2003). She is also co-editor (with Cynthia Hogue) of Innovative Women Poets: An Anthology of Contemporary Poetry and Interviews (University of Iowa Press, 2006). In 2009-2010, she held a Fulbright Fellowship as a visiting professor at the University of Wroclaw, Poland, where she taught U.S. poetry and Women's Studies. Frost has also received grants and residencies from the Rockefeller Foundation-Bellagio Center, the University of Connecticut Humanities Institute, the MacDowell Colony, the Saltonstall Foundation, Blue Mountain Center, and Ucross, among others. Frost's poetry, essays, reviews, and interviews have appeared in numerous journals, and her text-image collaborations with the visual artist Dianne Kornberg have been shown at the Chicago Cultural Center and other venues across the country. She is an associate professor of English and Women's Studies at Fordham University, where she directed the Poets Out Loud reading series for a decade, and where she founded and continues to edit the Poets Out Loud book series from Fordham University Press. She teaches American literature, contemporary poetry, women writers, and creative writing. (www.fordham.edu/pol). Vlasta Vranjes
Professor Vranjes teaches all things nineteenth century--and seemingly not nineteenth century. In her courses, students read everything from Pride and Prejudice to Atonement. She'd be delighted to answer any questions you might have--about Fordham, literature, or literature at Fordham.

Michael Buckley
I have been a Fordham faculty member since 2003. I teach a variety of courses, including intermediate Macroeconomics, Law and Economics, Urban Economics, and courses in finance in addition to the Intro level courses. Between getting my Ph.D. and coming to Fordham I spent 25 years in the banking industry as both an economist and later as a banker. I find it fascinating to work with students and to look with them at various issues from an economic perspective.

Hector Lindo-Fuentes
Salvadoran born historian Hector Lindo-Fuentes teaches courses on the history of Latin America. You may be interested in asking him how Fordham uses the opportunities offered by New York's rich cultural life to supplement the study of Latin America and of Latinos in the US. Ask him in English or in Spanish!!

Leonard Nissim
Leonard was born in New York City and grew up in nearby Bergen County, New Jersey. Interested in mathematics from childhood, he attended Princeton University, graduating summa cum laude and receiving the George B. Covington Prize in mathematics. He got a National Science Foundation fellowship to pursue his doctorate, which he received from M.I.T. in 1976. After two years on the faculty of Northwestern University in Illinois, he came to Fordham in 1978. His hobbies outside of the University include tournament duplicate bridge and baseball.

Carey Kasten
Professor Kasten teaches courses on twentieth-century Spanish culture, Latinos in New York, Spanish language and more. Write to her with questions about studying Spanish or other languages, study abroad, service-learning or participating in language-based cultural events at Fordham.

Martin DiGrandi
Professor Di Grandi teaches Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry to mainly junior and senior pre-health (pre-med, pre-dent, pre-vet) undergraduates and his research interest is in the synthesis of biologically active molecules (compounds with potential to treat human diseases). He welcomes any questions you may have, especially if you are interested in the sciences.

Jason Morris
Professor Morris teaches genetics, molecular biology and cell and developmental biology in addition to his courses for the honors program. He'd also love to talk about Jewish life at Fordham and about Jewish religion and culture in general.

Karen Siedlecki
Professor Siedlecki teaches classes on the Foundations of Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, and Memory. She has several undergraduate research assistants who work with her on her research projects, including one examining the relationship among characteristics of autobiographical memory and objective memory performance. Fred Wertz
Professor Wertz, a clinical psychology professor and practicing psychotherapist, has taught many psychology courses including Abnormal Psychology. Sport Psychology, Creativity, and the Practicum in psychology, in which his students explore work in practice settings throughout the metropolitan area. Ask him about some of these great placements!

Maureen O'Connell
Professor O'Connell enjoys engaging students on topics like the social relevance of belief in God, whether or not we can come together to build the common good, and if the arts are are about more than just entertainment. Since she serves as Faculty in Residence in McMahon Hall, she's used to having these sorts of conversations outside of the classroom at all hours. Interested in community service at Fordham? Matthew Maguire
Matthew Maguire is the Director of Fordham's Theatre Program, and a co-artistic director of Creation Production Company with which he has produced over fifty new works in New York City, nationally, and internationally. He is an alumnus of the distinguished playwriting organization, New Dramatists. His plays include Phaedra, and Abandon. His most recently published book (NoPassport Press, 2009) is Matthew Maguire: Three Plays, which includes The Tower, Luscious Music, and The Desert. His awards include an OBIE for Acting and an OBIE for Directing.

Kris Stone
Professor Stone teaches Set Design, Costume Design, Theatre Design, Drawing, Page To Stage, Design Production Workshop, and is the Head of The Design and Production Department. She is primarily a freelance Stage Designer in New York, Ireland, and regionally and has designed over 150 shows. She designs opera and theatre primarily, but also exhibitions for the Jewish Museum in Manhattan. Her upcoming projects include creating a new opera with UK-based director Phelim McDermott, beloved children's author and illustrator Maurice Sendak, and composer Philip Glass. She is also working on a few shows headed for the west coast that include the regional theatre premiere of Blood And Gifts at La Jolla Playhouse.

John Seitz
Prof. Seitz grew up and attended college in Boulder, Colorado. It was within the University of Colorado's cozy and stimulating religious studies department that he first embarked on the study of religion. After some time living in the mountains, he went on to earn an M.T.S. at Harvard Divinity School and then a Ph.D. in 2008 from Harvard's University's Committee on the Study of Religion. Seitz's approach to teaching springs from an interest in the ways the study of religion enhances our ability to understand the American past and present. He pursues this interest both historically and anthropologically. Prof. Seitz's courses include Wartime Religion in U.S. History, Religion in the City, American Religious Texts, and Faith and Critical Reason. If you're wondering what it means to study religion in a university setting, or what it means to think about diverse religious traditions at a Jesuit university, or if you just want to share your own insights about American religions, feel free to contact Prof. Seitz.
