Fordham University The Jesuit University of New York

The First Year Experience

Fordham College at Lincoln Center is a close-knit, intellectual, creative community in the heart of an energetic world capital. FCLC students soon learn that their fellow students, faculty and staff are a community of resources – which provides them a place to call home (to recharge, reflect and relax) as well as myriad opportunities to “get-out-into” the great metropolis – with all it has to offer…!

Vibrant classroom discussions, lively campus events, and an extensive variety of student clubs provide students with countless opportunities to connect with their peers and other members of the University community – and with various events around the city. As a result, first year students quickly become active participants in life at Fordham College at Lincoln Center and the wider campus beyond.

Even before arriving on campus, incoming freshmen are introduced to Fordham, New York City and their future classmates through a common summer undertaking, a novel to read, a blog to express ideas, or perhaps an interactive online forum, where brief documentaries about New York City can be viewed and first-hand accounts of living in New York can be read and reflected upon – all of this from some of its most famous citizens throughout history. It is never too soon to start to explore great works of art, film and literature that New York City has inspired. Come join the fun and “be inspi(red)” with the Fordham maroon.
