Scholarships foster a rich, challenging learning environment by allowing the college to compete for talented students who need financial help. Today, the University gives financial support to 90 percent of its students, continuing its tradition of creating opportunity for worthy students of limited means. Fordham College at Lincoln Center seeks support for two types of scholarships:
Artistic Merit Scholarships for Theatre and Dance
These scholarships will bring some of the most impressive young artists from across the country into the creative community at Lincoln Center. Many of these students are strongly interested in our nationally recognized theatre and dance programs, but can’t afford to enroll. The Denzel Washington Endowed Scholarship, made possible by a $250,000 gift to the University from the acclaimed actor, is for an undergraduate theatre major at Fordham.
The college is uniquely suited to the formation of young artists. Our programs are intensive—the Theatre Department offers a small conservatory setting, and the B.F.A. program in dance is jointly run with the Ailey School, as part of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. At the same time, both programs are enriched by a strong liberal arts curriculum and a location in the world capital of the performing arts. Fordham College at Lincoln Center produces fully realized, self-aware artists whose work reflects a deep knowledge of the human experience.
Study Abroad and Travel Scholarships
Students reap multiple benefits from studying abroad. They learn languages and take advantage of unique research opportunities. They gain cross-cultural skills, new ambitions and new perspectives. These scholarships will support study tours at universities abroad, as well as other overseas ventures, such as service work through Fordham’s Global Outreach program.
