Over Winter Break, 7 qualified pre-med students were able to travel down to Guatemala in order to serve the private and public hospitals of the city. These students were able to learn about health care in a different country. They shadowed practitioners that they are looking to someday be like surgeons, for instance. Here, they observed and assisted the experts in their fields. They were also presented with medical presentations from students from five Guatemalan medical schools. Although they didn't have much leisure time, they did manage to hike up Pacaya, a volcano in the city of Guatemala.
