Undergraduate Research Symposium
Wednesday, April 17th, 2013
As part of the annual celebration of the creative and scholarly accomplishments of our undergraduates, Fordham College at Rose Hill will host the Sixth Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium on Wednesday, April 17, 2013.

Undergraduates from all majors and programs are invited to present their original work through poster presentations, oral presentations, and artwork at the Symposium.  The Undergraduate Research Symposium also provides a great opportunity for students across the disciplines to share their academic projects.

Meeting with James R. Knickman, Ph.D., "Whose Responsibility?: The Role of Government in Keeping People Healthy"
Thursday, April 4th, 6:00 pm, 12th Floor Lounge Lowenstein Building Lincoln Center Campus
Dr. Knickman is the first President and Chief Executive Officer of the New York State Health (NYSHealth) Foundation, a private foundation dedicated to improving the health of all New Yorkers,especially the most vulnerable. Prior to joining NYSHealth, Dr. Knickman was the Vice President of Research and Evaluation at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in Princeton. Dr. Knickman will address the Fordham community on issues relating to healthcare to in New York State.

Speed Mentoring with various Alumni and Students

Several distinguished physicians who are FCRH alumni or friends of FCRH will be returning to campus to participate in a “Speed Mentoring” event for students in the Pre-Health Program. The physicians will be meeting with students in small groups to provide guidance and answer questions that you might have. These alumni are coming to campus because they understand that it is challenging to pursue a medical career and are willing to provide mentoring to help current students to reach their goals.

Meeting with Debbie Benvenger, Director of Admissions at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine

All students are invited to a presentation by Ms. Benvenger, who will be discussing the history of osteopathic medicine as well as admissions strategies for the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic medicine (PCOM).
  Come and learn about what makes the D.O. degree unique.

Pre-Health Students' Service Trip to Guatemala
Suni Over Winter Break, 7 qualified pre-med students were able to travel down to Guatemala in order to serve the private and public hospitals of the city. These students were able to learn about health care in a different country. They shadowed practitioners that they are looking to someday become like surgeons for instance.

Fordham alumnus', Matt Esposito (FCRH 2009), and osteopathic medicine--Join us!
Tuesday, October 23, 6-7:30 pm, O'Hare Special Collections Room in the 4th floor of Walsh Library

Please join us to meet with a Fordham alumnus, Matt Esposito (FCRH 2009), to learn about osteopathic medicine, as well as his path to medical school. After graduating from Fordham, Matt did research for two years at Washington State University in Spokane, WA. Matt is now a second year medical school student at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine. Matt is also a 2nd lieutenant in the Army and will be able to answer questions on his experience so far with the Army scholarship.

Also joining Matt will be Kim and April Barnum (both FCRH 2011). They too are in their 2nd year of medical school at UMDNJ SOM and willjoining in for the Q&A session.

"What is Public Health?" - Guest Speaker: Joseph Korevec, PhD, MBA
