Information Session on New Medical School Requirements and Revised MCAT Exam, with Deans Heald and Watts
Wednesday, March 28, 4-5pm, Keating 319
The AAMC has recently approved new medical school requirements and a revised MCAT exam. The changes will take effect for those seeking admission for Fall 2016. Even though you may be planning to apply for Fall 2015, we strongly urge you to plan as though you are going to apply for Fall 2016. Many students choose to wait or have to wait (or are not accepted and have to apply again). You therefore must be prepared and plan for the possibility that the new requirements will apply to you. If you already attended the session we provided on March 8th, you do not have attend the March 28th event. The content will be identical.

Psychology Department Seminar - "Decision-making about Research on Innovative Technologies: Deep Brain Stimulation for Depression"

The talk will be given by Dr. Paul Applebaum, MD from Columbia University. Dr. Applebaum is past President of the American Psychiatric Association (APA).

Seminar with Dr. Adam Levy
Wednesday, February 8, 6:30-8pm, Keating 3rd floor auditorium
Dr. Adam Levy is the Director of Pediatric Neuro-Oncology at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore, as well as an Assistant Professor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He will be speaking about giving bad news to patients diagnosed with cancer, as well as the role of communication between patient and physician. This seminar is sponsored by the Laennec Society. Pizza will be served at 6:15pm, prior to the seminar.

If you are going through the Committee on Health Professions process this year, please try to attend one of the two meetings. Dean Heald will discuss the application time line, review the statistics for students accepted in 2011, and will answer any questions that you have about the Committee on Health Professions process.

Medical and Dental Admissions Deans' Panel Discussion

Thursday, January 26, 6-8pm, O'Hare Hall
The Deans of Admissions from NJ Medical School, Jefferson Medical College, and Columbia University College of Dental Medicine will be participating in a panel discussion about medical and dental school admissions. Participants will discuss how the admissions process works from the inside: What matters besides grades? What is the purpose of the interview? What makes a quality personal statement? How can I set myself apart from the pack?
