Details

Fordham College at Rose Hill offers two levels of the math placement (MP) exam during the Summer Orientation Programs.  Students can self-select the exam that aligns with their highest level of high school math preparation.  The following link will provide in-depth details about what topics may be covered on each exam, as well as credit that is given for AP coursework:

If you are unable to attend any of the Summer Orientation Programs, please send an email message to
FCMathCalc@fordham.edu.

Regardless of AP test scores, everyone should take the MP exam for diagnostic purposes. Evaluating your quantitative aptitude will allow better course placement and may help inform future decisions.  Taking an MP exam does not negate AP credit.

If you took pre-calculus  in high school, you should take the MP1 exam.  If you took calculus, honors calculus, AP Calculus AB or AP Calculus BC, you should take the MP2 exam.  High school grades and SAT/ACT scores will not exempt a student from taking the math placement test, but they are taken into consideration with regards to placement.  Please note a calculator is not necessary, nor will students be permitted to use one.

Students are urged to take the test as early as possible to allow expedited processing and course assignment for fall 2013.  The placement test, which lasts 45 minutes, will be administered on the Rose Hill campus on the same days as the Summer Orientation Programs, which will be held on June 24, July 15 and July 22.

                                   MP1 - 9:30 AM: Keating Hall, 3rd Floor Auditorium
                                   MP2 – 9:30 AM: Keating Hall, room 319

To register for the MP exam, please complete the brief form found at the link below.

Parents who accompany students to campus are invited to attend the Science & Pre-Health Parents Breakfast Program, being offered at the same time as the MP exam, in Keating Hall, room 104.

It is in your best interest to attend one of the three Summer Orientation Programs, not only for the information presented, but also so that you can take this important placement test that will help in our assessment of your quantitative aptitude.

Congratulations on your matriculation to Fordham College at Rose Hill! We look forward to seeing you soon.
