Digital and Social Media Faculty Bios
Robin Colner is the CEO and founder of DigiStar Media, a digital marketing and social media agency that specializes in helping businesses and professionals increase revenues using effective social media management, search engine optimization and mobile marketing strategies. Robin also teaches “The Business and Practice of New Media” and, “Social Media Marketing and Public Relations” at Fordham University’s Professional Studies in New Media program. She is a frequent speaker and seminar instructor on the subject of how businesses drive traffic, leads, and sales using social media and mobile marketing. Robin has held social media training workshops for the Wharton and Columbia Business School alumni associations, and numerous companies and organizations throughout New York and Connecticut.
An MBA graduate of Wharton, Robin has more than 20 years of product development and strategic marketing experience, working for leading advertising agencies and Fortune 100 corporations, including Citigroup and American Express. She has held senior account management and business development positions at McCann Erickson and Nash Direct, a spinoff from BBDO where she managed large scale, multi-channel, direct response campaigns.
Over the last decade, Derek Wiggins has been a pioneer in new media with a strong focus in the mobile space. In 2005, while at Zingy, Derek spearheaded the launch of one of the first ringtone and wallpaper download programs for platinum recording artists and high profile celebrities. He then went on to create groundbreaking mobile campaigns and applications for some of the biggest U.S. brands while at the Hyperfactory. Derek was also an integral player in creating the first aggregated mobile blog portal, SNAKK Media, that allowed consumers to access all of their daily news and content from one central mobile destination. He now develops innovative mobile media campaigns for blue chip clients at Hipcricket, one of the largest mobile marketing companies in the U.S. Derek's view of mobile is simple: "It is the glue that holds all media together."
David Hoffman is the founder and CEO of Search Smart Marketing, a leading search engine marketing firm whose core operating principle is to deliver superior client service and results, by effectively integrating technology, strategy, and project management. Search Smart Marketing is dedicated to helping clients turn prospects into customers, and drive traffic to their websites, storefronts, and offices. Its clients include many leading companies located in the Westchester and Fairfield County region, along with large national brands such as AutoNation, CARFAX, Bugaboo Strollers, and First Capital. Prior to forming Search Smart Marketing in 2005, David Hoffman was VP/ Managing Director for Wahlstrom Interactive, whose clients included Enterprise Rent-a-Car, GE, Hilton Hotels, Nestle Waters and other category-leading brands. David’s Internet career dates back to 1995, whn he was Online Director at Gannett Newspapers (White Plains, NY) leading the early web initiatives for The Journal News, Gannett’s New York-metro newspaper. David regularly speaks at industry conferences such as Search Engine Strategies and AdTech, as well as at local business organizations, including The Westchester County Association.
