Psychology Course Requirements

The psychology major consists of ten courses:

  • PSYC 1200 Foundations of Psychology
  • PSYC 2000 Statistics
  • PSYC 2010 Research Methods Laboratory
  • Three intermediate (2000)-level courses
    • One basic process course (e.g., Biological; Memory; Sensation and Perception; Cognition)
    • One complex process course (e.g., Social; Infant and Child Development; Adolescent and Adult Development; Personality; Abnormal Psych)
    • An additional basic or complex course
  • Two advanced (3000)-level courses
  • One capstone (4000)-level course
  • One elective psychology course

One of the above psychology courses must be a laboratory course. Two natural science courses (one of which is required for the University core) must be completed: Either one physical science and one life science or a two-semester sequence of a single science.
