The Fordham University Veterans Initiative (FordhamVets) is part of the Post-9/11 GI Bill (aka Chapter 33), which provides financial assistance to veterans for their education.

Fordham is the only New York City university ranked in the Military Times’ top 50 “veteran-friendly” colleges and universities in the country. An approved Yellow Ribbon Program university, Fordham guarantees that all tuition and fees are fully covered for admitted veterans who fall in the VA’s maximum benefit category.

As an adult student, you will find many options at Fordham that suit your needs. You can take evening, weekend, and online classes, or attend full time during the day in one of our traditional colleges. Tuition benefits also apply to Fordham’s highly regarded graduate programs.

To make your adjustment to college life a little easier, Fordham offers transition workshops and many opportunities to network with other veterans. Generous transfer, prior-learning, and life-experience credit policies can shorten the time it takes to earn your degree.

New York Giants Player Development Coordinator Dustin Bennight, PCS ’12, came to Fordham after serving two U.S. naval deployments in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

“I was nervous about the academics but soon discovered that the skills you get from military service are applicable in the classroom, especially time management,” he said. The NFL selected the Seattle native for a paid internship, which led to his position with the Giants in his “dream career field.”

“The combination of a Fordham degree, military experience, and being in New York?” he said. “You really can’t beat it.”
