Approval of the Minutes
The minutes of meeting #63 on 27 February 2013 were approved (23-0-1).
Report of the Core Curriculum Committee
Prof. Myers, Chair, presented the Committee’s Actionable Items (attached) which were approved with a correction to the name of the CIMS Interdisciplinary Capstone (24,0,2). In addition, the Council approved the Committee’s proposal that approval for new core course submissions will rest in the Core Curriculum Committee rather than in the Arts & Sciences Council; the CCC will submit a final list of approved courses to the Council, which retains the right to review CCC decisions at its discretion (26,0,0). Dean Harrington agreed to the Committee’s request that he have Chairs for the Core Committee and all its subcommittees in place by August 1st, to expedite fall course reviews. Prof. Myers also updated the Council on internal improvements the Committee was working on and thanked his committee members for their extraordinary help over his two years as Chair.
Report of the Majors and Curricula Committee
Dean Harrington reported there was no committee report.
Report of the Nominations Committee
Dean Harrington reported Prof. McCarthy had agreed to help with nominations this semester and the attached slate was approved (27,0,0).
Faculty Evaluation Committee Report
Prof. Gilbert, Chair, reported that in the third day 17% of evaluations for A&S on-line courses were completed, with 170 in progress. After discussion, the Council approved a motion that the SEEQs for spring 2013 would be evaluated and this will be reported back to the Arts and Sciences Council (23,0,3).
Interdisciplinary Minor in Bio-Ethics
The Council approved the motion to accept this new minor (link), as revised (26,0,0).
Professional and Continuing Studies
Prof. Moniot updated the Council on the actions of the PCS Council.

EMERGENCY VOTE FOR FCLC NEW PROGRAMS - May, 2013
Dean Grimes submitted 4 new FCLC programs, to begin in fall 2014. These programs need New York State Department of Education approval, and the vote on them could not wait until the next scheduled Council meeting in October. Dean Harrington contacted all Council members by e-mail on May 16th (attached) and requested that an electronic vote be submitted by 5:00 pm on May 22nd. Each proposed program passed, by the following vote:

- interdisciplinary major in International Humanitarian Studies (24,2,0)
- interdisciplinary major in New Media and Digital Design ((23,2,1)
