- include any interdisciplinary program involved in the Search
- encourage diversity in the search committee as wellas in candidates
- identify the search committee to Dean Harrington
GUIDELINES FOR RECRUITMENT EXPENDITURES
FOR TENURE TRACK SEARCHES:
ADVERTISEMENTS
- submit to the Dean of Faculty for approval before posting
- when approved, place the ad in the agreed upon professional journal
- billing can be returned to the Dean of Faculty's Office
PRE-SCREENING AT NATIONAL CONFERENCES:
- Teleconferencing should be used s much as possible for pre-screening
- faculty attending conferences for presentations should provide as much pre-screening as possible
- only if appropriate interviewers will not be at the conference, the department may, with the Dean of Faculty’s approval, send up to two (2) faculty members under the recruitment budget to screen candidates for two (2) nights; usual policies on allowable expenses apply; additional travel expenses may preempt other expenses such as interviewing suites; send completed Travel Forms to the Dean of Faculty's Office
- before any travel a search plan including recruitment expenses and candidate campus visits must be provided to the Dean of Faculty
CAMPUS VISIT TRANSPORTATION AND LODGING FOR CANDIDATES:
- limited to two (2) candidates
- limited to two (2) nights
- Candidates are reimbursed for air or rail fare and local transportation (taxi or RAM Van); send completed Check Requests to the Dean of Faculty's Office.
- for reimbursement of faculty exenses, send completed Check Requests to the Dean of Faculty's office
CAMPUS VISIT MEALS:
- Departments may entertain a candidate for dinner one (1) time with up to four (4) department members; expenses for this dinner should not exceed $80 per person ($400 in total); expenses that exceed this limit without prior approval may not be reimbursed.
- if the candidate is staying for two nights, the chair or another faculty member may join him/her for dinner the other night and submit a bill for two
- Departments may provide lunch for the candidate and several department members and students on two (2) days; This should be at campus facilities, when possible, and cost should not exceed $12 per person. Ask for a letter from Dean Harrington if you wil be going to the RH Faculty Dining Room to have the cost charged directly to his account
FOR NON-TENURE TRACK HIRES: advertisement, travel and hotel expenses are not available for non-tenure-track searches
INTERVIEWS
- two (2) finalists should be invited for an on-campus interview for each tenure track position, whether local residents or not.
- contact the Dean of Faculty's office to arrange an appointment with the Deans. The Deams are reserving Tuesday and Thursday mornings for interviews
- All candidates must visit department members at both the Lincoln Center and Rose Hill campuses
- one (1) week prior to the interview with the Deans, forward an electronic file for the candidate to the Dean of Faculty, to include:
