The Faculty Research Grant Program (FRG) enables full-time faculty to pursue research projects that will lead to successful external funding applications and new publications. In accordance with University Statute, FRGs provide seed money to further our faculty's professional development, advance understanding in their respective disciplines, and promote a vigorous and recognized research community at Fordham.
FRG applications are considered and awarded in two cycles, one for "1st Year at Fordham" faculty only, and the second which is open to all full-time faculty.
The deadlines for application are:
- "1st Year at Fordham" faculty --> October 1st
- All full-time faculty --> January 15th
**NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR JANUARY 2010 APPLICANTS**:
"Summer FRGs"
--> a $6,500 stipend to relieve from summer teaching responsibilities faculty who have a scholarly project
that does not at present have funding needs (e.g., costs for personnel, travel, equipment, etc.),
but that would be significantly advanced by 3 months of undistracted attention, and which has a
strong potential of achieving either:
a. subsequent external support from its results (e.g., identified contract, fellowship or grant opportunity);
b. imminent publication through an identified venue.
Extra Funding for "NYCRDC Proposals"
--> up to an additional $5,000 for an application may be accrued through any and all budget categories on
the FRG Budget Proposal Form (see below) for expenses necessary for a proposed project to access
and make full use of the of the New York Census Research Data Center (NYCRDC). Please click on the
following links to find out "what is the NYCRDC and what does it provide?" and
"how to apply for access to the NYCRDC."
