This FOA solicits applications from institutions proposing exceptionally innovative research on novel hypotheses or difficult problems, solutions to which would have an extremely high impact on biomedical or biobehavioral research that is germane to the mission of one or more of the participating NIH Institutes. National Italian American Foundation - Culture and Heritage GrantAwards

NIH/NIAMS - Ancillary Studies to Large Ongoing Clinical Projects (R01) and (R21)

Clinical studies often represent a substantial financial commitment from the sponsors and enormous effort from the investigators who establish an infrastructure for patient recruitment, examination, and follow-up. These large clinical projects offer unique experimental windows to human disease that are largely under-exploited. Ancillary studies that go beyond the core activities of the original clinical project can explore the research opportunities offered in the established cohorts and generate new information to enhance the scientific content of the original project.

EPA - Greater Research Opportunities Fellowships for Undergraduate Environmental Study

The EPA is offering Greater Research Opportunities undergraduate fellowships for bachelor level students in environmental fields of study. Eligible students will receive support for their junior and senior years of undergraduate study and for an internship at an EPA facility during the summer between their junior and senior years. The fellowship provides up to $19,250 per year of academic support and up to $8,000 of internship support for a three-month summer period.


 

Office of Naval Research - Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative

This initiative promotes inter-institutional partnerships between community colleges or other two-year post-secondary educational institutions granting the associate degree and colleges or universities that offer the baccalaureate degree with the goal of developing well-integrated developmental activities that will increase students preparation and skills as they advance academically in the pursuit of the baccalaureate and subsequently more advanced degrees in biomedical and behavioral sciences.

Biomedical research laboratories increasingly undertake a software development project to solve aproblem of interest specifically related to that laboratory. These software packages sometimes become useful to a much broader community of users that can include translational and clinical researchers. The goal of this program announcement is tosupport the continued development, maintenance, testing and evaluation of existing software. The proposed work should apply best practices and proven methods for software design, construction, and implementation to extend the applicability of existing biomedical informatics/computational biology software to a broader biomedical research community.
