Careers in Ethics

Why Get a Master's in Ethics and Society?

Health Care
Ethics is essential to understanding the implications and consequences of medical procedures and treatment decisions. If you are considering the health care profession, a background in ethics will provide you with the analytical skills that will assist you in your work and help you to best serve the needs of those with whom you work.

Law and Legal Study

Ethics is an integral component of legal education and professional life. The M.A. in Ethics and Society Program is one of the few programs in the country that allows graduate students to take courses at the Fordham University School of Law. Click here to read about some of our recent graduates who are currently in law school.

Ethics Compliance and Regulation

Many companies and organizations in business and finance are beginning to recruit staff with the ability to offer innovative solutions to complex ethical dilemmas. In addition, all universities that participate in research are required to form Institutional Review Boards to monitor and approve research. Click here to see read about our recent graduates working in this sector.

Research and Policy

Ethics and moral decision making are frequently invoked in matters of public policy. Training in ethics will give you an added advantage, whether you're considering eventual public office, careers in governmental think tanks, or any type of public policy work.

Non-profit and Social Justice

A degree in ethics is relevant to pursuing work abroad in humanitarian aid, conflict resolution, and peacekeeping, as well as domestic non-profit work, such as community organization and promoting human rights.
