Localism Bibliography

MCGANNON CENTER RELEASES LOCALISM BIBLIOGRAPHY

The Donald McGannon Communication Research Center has released an extensive annotated bibliography on the localism principle and its place in communications policymaking.  The document, completed with the support of a grant from the Ford Foundation, was produced in response to the Federal Communications Commission's ongoing inquiry into broadcast localism (see www.fcc.gov/localism).  In ths proceeding, the Commission is soliciting comments on a wide range of questions pertaining to the meaning of localism and to what extent broadcast licensees are serving the needs and interests of their local communities.  The filing deadline for this proceeding is November 1, 2004.

The McGannon Center produced the Localism Bibliography in the hope that it could serve as a tool for individuals or organizations preparing comments for this proceeding, or for anyone interested in learning more aboutthe localism principle and its place in communications policy.
